Art is Not an Island

Art is Not an Island is a short film by Ewan Allinson and Maria Rud for the Arts and the Artist in Landscape and Environmental Research Today (AALERT) network looking at the role of artists, arts organisations and arts education in the “repeopling” of Eigg and North Uist. It documents the experiences of eight artists, explaining their connections to the special landscapes where they live and the importance of their artistic practices. Contributions from Uist include artists Fiona Pearson, Corinna Krause and Marnie Keltie, plus musician Anna-Wendy Stevenson.

The AALERT project is also running an online workshop with Creative Conversations on 26 March 2021 to consider arts-based research related to landscapes and the environment, and to discuss and deliberate barriers and opportunities for further integrating these approaches into decision making.
