Highland Art Prize 2022

The UAA have been approached by the Highland Society of London, An Comunn Gàidhealach and Perth & Kinross Council to invite us to submit artwork for the inaugural Highland Art Prize exhibition and competition as part of the Royal National Mòd, scheduled to take place in Perth from 14th-22nd October 2022 at the City Contemporary Art Gallery.
The purpose of the exhibition is to promote Highland art on a national scale and thereby raise the profile of local artists working across the Highlands and Islands.
This will be a cash prize of £1,000 for the winning artwork (to be shared between the artist and his/her corresponding Art Association or gallery).
in addition to the cash prize, they are delighted to confirm that the winner will also have the opportunity to mount an exhibition during 2023 in a street-front space at The Briggait cultural hub in central Glasgow, courtesy of Wasps – Scotland’s studio specialists, and the UK’s largest provider of studio and creative spaces.
The winning artwork will be selected by an independent judge during the course of the Royal National Mòd week, to be announced at a prize giving ceremony towards the end of that week; and the exhibition will be promoted as part of the Royal National Mòd by An Comunn Gàidhealach and Perth & Kinross Council.
Rather than accepting individual entries, they have contacted the UAA and the many other Art Associations, galleries and similar organisations across the Highlands and Islands, requesting that we select up to five artworks that we would like to submit on behalf of the Uist Arts Association.

UAA Participation:

We have agreed that we will select five pieces of work by five of our members (one each) to send to the exhibition, and that the UAA will cover all the transport costs including packing and packaging.
For this initial event, they are focusing purely on framed two-dimensional paintings; in future years, they intend to broaden this out to other media, including three-dimensional work.
Works may be for sale and will be subject to a 30% commission
Works must have been completed in the 12 months prior to September 2022

If you are interested in being considered for this please email us on uistarts@gmail.com by end 21 August
