Given the level of uncertainty due to the current Coronavirus situation, we propose to offer a reduced Summer programme this year:

  • For those opening their studio or gallery, an Art on the Map event will run from May 23 to August 15. You can decide in May whether you want to participate in this. The UAA website will provide opening times, contact and location details (weekly calendar, updated daily). Art on the Map road-signs will be provided to participants. A simple publicity leaflet will be produced, directing visitors to the website for information on times and locations. Other social media will also be used and we will try to interest other media channels through news stories
  • The Summer Open Exhibition will hopefully run at Taigh Chearsabhagh from 4th July to 8th August. To be held in studios 1 and 2 and in part of café. Studio 3 will display a Judith Entwistle Baker retrospective.
  • We will make additional marketing efforts to promote Uist based artists and their current work. Web, social media, news stories. Will be useful as part of year-round support for Uist artists even if physical events are not possible
  • We are not currently proposing to reinstate the website online shop unless there is demand from members

There will be no additional charge for participation in Art on the Map this year, but participants must be UAA members. The Open Exhibition is also only a member-only event. You can renew your subscription at https://uistarts.org/join/

Next steps:

  • Update your website profile: you can do this at any time. Members with current profiles will also be contacted to check whether these are still needed, and unwanted/inactive profiles will be removed
  • Art on the Map road signs: these will be distributed to participating members. If you have a sign and know that you will not need it this year, let us know and we will collect them
  • Let us know if you have stories about your work or images that you would like included in our marketing efforts
