Prints, Paintings

I began my undergraduate studies in Contemporary Art at Forth Valley College in Stirling, and then completed the Honours year in Fine Art with the University of The Highlands and Islands in North Uist in 2022. Since then I have stayed on in the islands inspired by the landscape and folklore. I combine my work as a practising artist with community based art, facilitating workshops, mostly with children. I work in a range of mediums , sometimes combined, such as acrylic paint, screenprint, linocut, cyanotype and sculpture. My work is often narrative based – I look for the stories, past and present that are the essence of our culture . I studied Gaelic folklore, researching stories, superstitions, rituals and names, searching for ways to visually represent and keep alive our connections to the past, like the Gaelic language itself. I am also inspired by moments in the landscape that catch your breath – the fiery red autumn sun, the ever changing sea with its unique Hebridean turquiose hues, and the vastness of the never ending skies.
