Gladness
heralding the day
sound, sight and sweet smells
our senses awake with gladness
Barefoot
barefoot freedom in
shallows of fathomless sea
they run with the waves
Longing
longing for tepid
gentleness on skin and soul
but rare this sea’s gift
Water
think of green water
no, turquoise, think of blue
no, sapphire opal indigo
Walls
deserted croft house
I look inside the old walls
these were my people
Stare
the long stare out
to the wide dark line where the sea
drinks down the sky
Cross
a cross, quickly scratched
does not disturb this relic
poised, grey and lichened
Guillemots
pair of guillemots
whir away from the ferry
their fishing disturbed
Walk
grey contours define
cloud, rock, ocean, horizon,
shadows conspiring
Home
broad expanse of light
only Eabhal interrupts
breathe because I’m home
Tower
the water tower
entering Balivanich
a coffee filter
Scars
shore to shore she glides
placing limpets on their scars
praying to the moon
